Customers, suppliers and colleagues came together at Silkstone Golf Club in Barnsley on Friday 19th June for the Duftons Charity Golf Day, raising an amazing £5,854 for Candlelighters.
With glorious sunshine, 94 golfers, plenty of entertainment and some healthy competition out on the course, it was a fantastic day from start to finish.
Starting the Day in Style
The day began with bacon sandwiches before Ady Wheatcroft from Ace Golf Challenge got proceedings underway with an impressive trick-shot display.
Following the entertainment, it was time for the golf, with 94 players heading out onto the course for a shotgun start.
The entertainment didn't end there. When players reached the 9th hole, Ady was waiting for them with another demonstration – this time giving the golfers the opportunity to have a go at some of his trick shots themselves.
Throughout the round, our golfers were kept well fed and watered, with Duftons staff and suppliers making their way around the course in buggies loaded with drinks and snacks.
An Evening of Entertainment
Once everyone had finished their round, it was back to the clubhouse for some well-earned drinks and great food before the evening's entertainment began.
Comedian Jon Stiles took over as compere for the evening and also hosted our charity auction and raffle, helping us raise even more money for Candlelighters.
There were some fantastic prizes up for grabs, including four-ball rounds at a number of golf clubs, a golf lesson, Titleist Pro V1 golf balls, vouchers and a bottle of whisky.
And the Winners Are…
After the auction, it was time for the all-important prize giving.
In the individual competition, Nasser Shaher took first place, followed by Luke Thompson in second and Loz Yearsleyin third.
The team competition was won by Martin Proud from our Durham branch and his customers. The H&S Electrical team finished second, while David Lane from our Huddersfield branch and his customers secured third place.
Congratulations to all our winners and to everyone who took part.
